California Statutes
California Statutes are the Chaptered Bills. A bill is "chaptered"
by the Secretary of State after it has passed through both houses of the
Legislature and has been signed by the Governor or becomes law without
the Governor's signature. Statutes are available starting from 1993. This
site is maintained by the Legislative Counsel of the State of California.
California Codes
The official website for the codified laws of California. Once a bill is chaptered, it
is coded so that all laws pertinent to one topic (example: Education) appear together.
California Law consists of 29 codes, covering various subject areas, the State Constitution
and Statutes. Information presented reflects laws currently in effect.
This site is maintained by the Legislative Counsel of the State of California.
California Code of Regulations
Once a law is enacted, the governmental agencies implement them with regulations.
The California Code of Regulations (CCR) Website contains the
text of the regulations that have been formally adopted by state
